Alex Flinner, Lighting Design
A theatrical artist based in Duluth MN, Alex is originally from Saint Paul and moved to Duluth to pursue a degree at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Theater and a Music Minor, Alex has worked with many groups including UMD Theater, GSVLOC (Gilbert and Sullivan Very Light Opera Company), Lyric Opera of the North, Wise Fool, Anoka Mainstage Theater, White Bear Lakeshore Players Theater, the Phipps Theater in Hudson, Wisconsin, Rochester Civic Theater, Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater, and the Rochester Pops Orchestra. Recent work includes GSVLOC’s Princess Ida (Lighting) LOON’s St Johns Passion (Lighting), Wise Fool’s Of Mice and Men (Lighting), UMD’s Into the Woods and The Little Mermaid, The Jungle Book(Lighting) with the Duluth Playhouse, and Peter and the Starcatcher with Harbor City International. Alex also recently received Best Lighting Design for GSVLOC’s production of The Gondoliers in Broadway World’s Twin Cities Regional contest in 2017.
While not designing or working in theater, Alex can be found playing upright and/or electric bass with Minnesota orchestras including the Mesabi Symphony, the North-shore Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rochester Pops Orchestra and various pit bands.
