Alex Flinner
A Lighting Designer out of Duluth MN, Alex greatly enjoys using light to enhance and create moments that please the eye and inspire intrigue. Resident Lighting and Sound Designer at the University of Wisconsin-Superior Theater Department, he has also recently designed lighting for The Minnesota Ballet’s Nutcracker (2022), LOON’s Hansel and Gretel (Lyric Opera of the North), Harbor City International High School productions, and many more. He has worked with The Duluth Playhouse on their Family Stage and NorShor Stage, Gilbert and Sullivan Very Light Opera Company (GSVLOC), Wise Fool Theater, Lyric Arts in Anoka MN, and The Phipps Center in Hudson WI. In 2017 Alex won Broadway World’s Minneapolis Regional Award for Lighting with GSVLOC’s The Gondoliers. Outside the realm of lighting, Alex also designs sound, directs livestreams, consults on theatrical system upgrades, records concerts, and plays upright bass with the Duluth Community Band.
