Bernstein & Sondheim: Regards to Broadway!

Lyric Opera of the North presents an extraordinary concert celebrating the unparalleled artistry of Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim, two giants of Broadway whose brilliance shaped musical theatre across five decades. A community chorus made up of over 70 singers will be joined by a jazz band and soloists Erin Capello, Sarah Lawrence, and Jorell Williams, for a special event explores Sondheim & Bernstein’s iconic collaborations, including timeless masterpieces like West Side Story, Candide, Sweeny Todd, and On the Town, as well as the remarkable solo works that defined their individual legacies. From witty, heartfelt melodies to bold, innovative scores, their combined output of two dozen Broadway productions remains a cornerstone of American theatre. Expect an evening of unforgettable songs and stories, showcasing the wit, passion, and innovation of these legendary figures—where every note resonates with Broadway’s golden era.

Project co-creator Bradley Greenwald writes, “While each of them, Bernstein, Sondheim, Lawrence, and Robbins, had enough talent to create a show by himself, they worked hard to contain their egos because of what they believed they could create together. They worked hard to create something wonderful that they could not have made without each other.”

Welcome to Denfeld Auditorium!

Denfeld Auditorium is located inside of Duluth Denfeld High School at 401 N 44th Ave W, Duluth, MN 55807. This beautiful, historic theatre has 1,800 seats. General admission seats are $35. Premium seats, located in the centermost section of the main floor, are $50. If you have a seat cushion, we recommend bringing it to the concert as the chairs in the auditorium are wooden and not padded.
