Bill Munson

Originally from Howard Lake, Minnesota, Bill Munson originally studied piano with Louise Guhl and received his B.M. in piano performance from the University of Minnesota where he studied with Dr. Alexander Braginsky. He went on to receive an M.M. in piano performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder where he studied with Prof. Bob Spillman. Past productions include The Medium (Metropolitan State College of Denver), HMS Pinafore and The Mikado (University of Colorado at Boulder) and The Music Man (Masquers Theatre Company). Bill was rehearsal pianist for Lyric Opera of the North’s productions including Amahl and the Night Visitors, Hansel and Gretel, Cavalleria rusticanaLa bohèmeThe Radio Hour and Die Fledermaus. He also loves playing in gyms full of school children as a Little LOON cast member where he has performed Hansel and Gretel and Rusalka. Bill is also a collaborative pianist in the voice area at UMD where he plays for recitals and juries. His all time favorite pieces of music are Tosca and the Rachmaninoff Piano Concertos. Bill served as the music director at Faith Lutheran Church in Forest Lake for six years and is currently the choir accompanist and a worship leader at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Duluth. When he isn’t at the piano, Bill loves hiking, kayaking, traveling and trivia. He currently resides in Midway Township with his wife Lisa and his dogs Poochini and Hildie.
