Auditions for Little Opera of the North April 13

Lyric Opera of the North will hold auditions for its 2019-20 elementary school tour (Little LOON), touring Opera for the Young’s adaptation of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville.

Auditions will be held from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 13, 2019, in Room 99, Ferguson Hall at University of Minnesota. 2106 S. 4th Street, Minneapolis, 55454. To reserve your spot, contact Kailyn Spencer at or by calling 218.464.0922.

LOON is seeking a soprano or mezzo (Rosina); tenor (Almaviva), baritone (Bartolo) and baritone (Figaro).

Singers will sing aria of their choice, and may be asked for a second aria. Please bring something in English. You may be asked to read dialogue from the adapted score, and/or sample audience questions. Pianist will be provided, or you are welcome to bring your own.

Little LOON rehearsal week is October 14 – 18, 2019, in Duluth, with one full week of tour October 21 – 25, and a possibility of another partial week following that.

The winter tour dates (with the same cast) are Sunday, February , 2020, for brush-up rehearsal, then touring February 3 – 14, and again February 24 – 28, with a possible week March 2-6. Singers share tour duties of loading set into school gyms, and driving tour van.

Rehearsal week stipend, followed by payment per performance during touring weeks. Housing in Duluth and while touring.
