Summer Sparkler 2025
A summer concert with picnic-y food and festive fundraising in support of a new season of opera!
Grounds open at 5:30pm, Concert starts at 6:30pm.
This year’s Sparkler Stars Jennifer Baldwin Peden and Christina Baldwin (who just played Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus), in their opera-cabaret, The Birds, the Bees, and the Baldwin Sisters: An Operatic Tribute to our brothers’ numerous ex-girlfriends. Pianist Bill Munson will join Jen and Christina for LOON’s season finale.
Christina Baldwin and Jennifer Baldwin Peden are two of Minnesota’s most sought-after singer/actors. From Mozart to the Marx Brothers, their uniquely beautiful storytelling draws audiences into the complexities and absurdities of being human. They have been seen on stages such as the Guthrie Theater, Minnesota Orchestra, Astoria Music Festival, American Repertory Theater, Berkeley Repertory Theater . . . and they may have inadvertently shaped the artistic direction of Lyric Opera of the North with their performances with Theatre de la Jeune Lune. Jen and Christina also have a LOT of brothers. This concert, brimming with favorite operatic hits, draws inspiration from their brothers’ ex-girlfriends and the lessons Christina and Jen learned peeking down the stairs at curfew time and listening in on the upstairs phone.

Menu
- Turkey, Bacon, & Swiss Sandwich – served on cranberry wild rice bread with cranberry mayo, lettuce, and tomato.
- Cranberry & Goat Cheese Salad – served with chicken, mixed greens, dried cranberries, goat cheese, candied pecans, and balsamic vinaigrette. (Vegetarian upon request)
- Hummus wrap with zucchini, squash, roasted red peppers, spinach, & hummus (Vegetarian)
- Roast Beef & Cheddar Sandwich – served on marble rye with a roasted garlic mayo, lettuce, and tomato.
All menu choices include a side of chips, fresh fruit, and a dessert.

Several drink options will be available with suggested donation pricing. Please bring cash!
Seating
We’ll have lots of chairs set up for the concert, but if you have a favorite lawn chair or blanket to bring, please do!
Directions to The Historic Scott House
Address: 1321 County Road 4, Carlton, MN, 55718
I-35 exit #239 (Scanlon Carlton Cloquet).
After exiting, turn left under 35 and head south into Carlton. You are on Hwy 45.
Continue south through Carlton (you will cross RR tracks) for about 1 mile, and then turn right at the Spur Gas Station onto County Road 3.
Follow County Road 3 for about 4.5 miles, and turn right on County Road 4.
Scott House is the first driveway on the right.
