Robert Riordan
Robert Riordan is a versatile performer at home on grand mainstages and intimate cabaret venues. He returns to Lyric Opera of the North to sing Schaunard in their upcoming production of La bohème having previously performed this season as a Dater in Michael Ching’s Speed Dating Tonight! and as the Father/Witch in Little LOON’s touring production of Hansel and Gretel. Robert’s other engagements in the 2023-2024 season included the Customs Officer in Minnesota Opera’s production of La bohème, Judas in the Rob Gardner’s oratorio Lamb of God with Minnesota Saints Chorale and Orchestra, and the title character in Gianni Schicchi and Nettuno in Caccini’s La liberazione di Ruggiero with Opera Reading Project. Past role credits include Melchior in Amahl and the Night Visitors, a Drifter in the world premiere of Edward Tulane, covering the title role while singing Gremin/Zaretsky/Captain in Eugene Onegin, Junius in The Rape of Lucretia, and Top in the Bulgarian premiere of The Tender Land. Robert has been selected as a Vocal Fellow with Lakes Area Music Festival, a Tomita Young Artist with Finger Lakes Opera, and an Apprentice Artist with Lyric Opera of Kansas City. He holds a MM in Voice Performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a BM from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
