Levi Capesius

Levi Capesius is a dynamic young singing artist who has already made his mark on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Des Moines Civic Center, Minneapolis Orchestra Hall, and the iconic Carnegie Hall in New York City. With a career rooted in classical song and operatic repertoire, Capesius combines his love for performance with a deep passion for education and outreach, inspiring audiences of all ages to discover the transformative power of classical music and opera.

As a concert soloist, Capesius has shared the stage with ensembles such as the Wartburg Community Symphony and the Rochester Minnesota Symphony Orchestra. His performances of works like Schubert’s Magnificat, Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music, Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb, and Mozart’s Coronation Mass in C have showcased both his vocal versatility and his profound connection to the music.

Most recently, Capesius won critical acclaim for his performance as Francis Flute (Thisby) in Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), hailed by the Cincinnati Business Courier for his “extravagantly interpreted” portrayal: “It was Flute, extravagantly interpreted by Levi Capesius, who stole the show in the play-within-a-play, singing the role of the coloratura operatic heroine…” (Janelle Gelfand – Cincinnati Business Courier). At CCM, he has also wowed audiences with his performances in opera scenes from Le Nozze di Figaro (as Basilio and Curzio) and Giulio Cesare (as Nireno). Capesius’ operatic experience also includes professional roles with Lyric Opera of the North (Speed Dating Tonight and Die Fledermaus) and Northern Lights Music Festival (Le Nozze di Figaro).

A lifelong learner and advocate for the power of education, Capesius has studied with celebrated teachers including tenor Dr. Brian Pfaltzgraff and baritone Dr. Cory Renbarger. He is currently studying with soprano Dr. Gwendolyn Coleman and tenor Prof. Daniel Weeks at CCM, where he continues to grow as both an artist and a mentor.

Beyond the stage, Capesius is passionate about giving back to the community. He believes in the power of introducing young people to the world of classical song and opera, ensuring that the next generation of musicians and music lovers has the opportunity to experience and appreciate the beauty of these art forms. His commitment to musical education reflects his belief that classical music has the power to shape not only the future of the arts but the hearts and minds of all who encounter it.
