Lacy Sauter

 

Lacy Sauter, soprano, has garnered critical acclaim as an interpreter of opera’s most iconic roles. Career highlights include: La Traviata (Violetta), La Bohème (Mimi), Così fan tutte (Fiordiligi), Le nozze di Figaro (Contessa), Rigoletto (Gilda), A Streetcar Named Desire (Blanche DuBois), Roméo et Juliette (Juliette), Carmen (Micaela), and Die Fledermaus (Rosalinde). Ms. Sauter has performed around the United States with opera companies including Arizona Opera, Atlanta Opera, Nashville Opera, Florida Grand Opera, The Santa Fe Opera, Chautauqua Opera, The Glimmerglass Festival, Utah Festival Opera, Livermore Valley Opera, Heartland Opera, Lyric Opera of the North, and Union Avenue Opera. Lacy made her debut with LOON in June 2023 as Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana and was last seen as the Coordinator in Speed Dating Tonight!

On the concert stage, Ms. Sauter has appeared as soloist with the Missouri Symphony as part of their Hot Summer Nights concert series where she sang in Mostly Mozart, Pops, and A Night at the Opera. Additionally, she was featured as the soprano soloist in Mendelssohn’s Elijah with the Winona Oratorio Chorus and sang with Florida Grand Opera in Live at the Lynn. Ms. Sauter also performed as soloist in Utah Festival Opera’s Rogers and Hammerstein Celebration concert. In February 2024, she made her debut with the DSSO singing the soprano solo in Mozart Vesperae Solennes de Confessore.

Equally at home on the musical theatre stage, Ms. Sauter has recently been seen at the Duluth Playhouse The Sound of Music, Young Frankenstein, Into the Woods, Little Women, Footloose, and Ragtime adding to her extensive musical theatre credits which include The King and I (Anna), Sweeney Todd(Johanna), Kiss me Kate (Lilli/Kate), Showboat (Julie), The Mikado (Yum-Yum), and Fiddler on the Roof (Hodel).

Lacy Sauter was born in Duluth, but raised in Scottsdale, Arizona.  In 2021, she moved back to the motherland after travelling and performing all over the country and has been thrilled to be welcomed “home” into the Twin Ports arts community. She earned a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance at Arizona State University. She completed graduate studies on full-scholarship at Indiana University’s prestigious Jacobs School of Music under the tutelage of world-renowned soprano Carol Vaness, with additional training as an apprentice artist at The Santa Fe Opera, The Glimmerglass Festival, Chautauqua Opera, Nashville Opera, Utah Festival Opera, and Florida Grand Opera. Ms. Sauter has won prizes from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (Arizona and Middle-East Tennessee Districts), Phoenix Opera’s Southwest Vocal Competition (1st Place Winner), and the Orpheus Vocal Competition (2nd Place Winner).
