Benjamin Jorgenson

Benjamin Jorgenson, tenor, is a senior vocal music education major at UMD. He got his start performing in middle school through musical theater later joining choir in ninth grade and finding his love for choral music. Jorgenson was awarded the Maryann and Ronald Weber Scholarship and began attending the University of Minnesota Duluth as a vocal music education major. Ben has had the opportunity to play many roles in the  UMD Opera Studio including  Rinucchio in Gianni Schicchi, Lippo in Street Scene, and Nicely-Nicely Johnson in Guys and Dolls, Bob Becket in H.M.S Pinafore to name a few.

Mr. Jorgenson has performed in many ensembles at UMD including Lake Effect, and Chamber Singers, as well as serving as tenor section leader in University Singers for two and a half  years.

As a voice student studying under Rachel Inselman, Ben has had the chance to study classical  and musical style singing. With Professor Inselman’s guidance, he placed 2nd in Minnesota’s Musical Theatre NATS 2023, he also placed 3rd in Minnesota’s Musical Theatre NATS 2024, Moving on to regional NATS he placed 1st in the North Central Region NATS, and moved on to Semi Finals in NATS Nationals.

Mr. Jorgenson is currently working with Lake Superior Youth Chorus as an intern for their tenor-bass choir Camerata. Ben is also a recipient of the DSSO Bakke Scholarship as the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra Chorus tenor section leader.
