Trouble in Tahiti by Leonard Bernstein

Happy 100th Birthday to Leonard Bernstein, who wrote Lyric Opera of the North’s season opener, Trouble in Tahiti. A suburban couple appears to have a perfect life. Over the course of this 50-minute opera, and with the help of an observant backup trio, we get a glimpse past the facade and into the loneliness, frustration, and despair.

The Filthy Habit by Peter Hilliard and Matt Boresi

Peter Hilliard and Matt Boresi, the team who brought us Blue Viola, created the perfect pairing for Trouble in Tahiti. Their 50-minute opera, The Filthy Habit, puts the Tahiti cast back on stage in different roles.

In The Filthy Habit, a wife is keeping a secret, but not the secret her husband suspects! There’s plenty of humor and beauty in this piece, and LOON is thrilled to give The Filthy Habit its Minnesota premiere. Guest Conductor Andrew Sewell will be on the podium, with stage direction from Marni Raab. Join us for an evening of two operas under two hours!
