Beth Sobczak earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Keyboard Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 2011, where she studied with Dr. Beth Gilbert and Dr. Norma Stevlingson. While at UW-Superior, she performed in the university orchestra’s concerto concert three times as a featured soloist and was a two-time recipient of a Matinee Musicale Scholarship.
A Superior native, Beth’s involvement as an active accompanist and collaborative pianist in the Twin Ports stems from her many appearances in student recitals during her undergraduate career. Her recent performances include Love, Loss and Revenge at the Historic Scott House (a cabaret-style show produced by Kate Kulas) and an instrumental recital with Kimberlie Dillon at Rock Hill Community Church in Duluth. At the Duluth Playhouse, Beth was involved in the productions of Spamalot, Anything Goes, Les Misérables (a collaboration with the DSSO and Minnesota Ballet), and White Christmas. InTrial by Jury and Iolanthe (both produced at the Underground Theater and directed by Dr. Jeffrey Madison), Beth was the rehearsal accompanist and acted as the orchestra for the performances. She has also accompanied UW-Superior’s Opera Workshop and A Cappella Choir.
Beth currently serves as the pianist at Concordia Lutheran Church in Superior. Her upcoming engagements include Steerage Song (Big Top Chautauqua) and an appearance with Sarah Lawrence and Cal Metts in the Bayfield Summer Concerts series.
